Passage to Kylemore
Connemara, Ireland
While I was traveling from North Ireland towards Galway a striking structure appeared, set reclusively back in the trees across Castle Lough. Kylemore Abby has a centuries-old history but what struck me was the nostalgic feel of the location, as though it was preserved in a time capsule. I could imagine visitors boarding the small boats on the shore and paddling across the lough to the Abby. A prince? A princess? A village farmer’s family? The scenarios were endless and the site unforgettable. -Dan McGeorge
