Heavens Above
Yosemite National Park, California

Night had fallen, the sky was filled with fast-moving clouds, but a nearly full moon was high in the sky, lighting Yosemite Valley from above. At Tunnel View vantage point I framed a composition and waited. The soft light of the moon shining between clouds to the east bathed the valley below. As clouds streaked quickly overhead patches of the night sky could be seen, revealing twinkling stars. And in close examination the lights of night climbers also punctuated the face of El Capitan. It was a remarkable scene I will always remember. -Dan McGeorge
