Coronado, California
A winter storm had been brewing off the coast all day, and as evening fell it seemed unlikely much would be happening photographically. As I looked overhead however I saw openings between the clouds, and headed towards the beach in hopes of finding something interesting. All seemed lost as the clouds had turned grey. Then, to my surprise, I began to see a pink glow developing above the puffy clouds which were being pushed along by a strong wind. Quickly I made my way onto the sand and suddenly the upper layer of clouds began to light up as though they were on fire. It was spectacular. There under it stood a couple warming themselves by their fire as they stood motionless, taking in the dramatic spectacle unfolding in the sky above. It truly was a special moment.
