Artist's Description

Sand Dollar
San Diego, CA

It was another ordinarily beautiful day, with clear blue skies and a gentle breeze. Classic San Diego weather. It was a perfect time to enjoy, but not to photograph. As sunset approached however, a marine layer of broken clouds began sweeping inland from the sea. Our commercial fishing fleet is picturesque at any time, and hopefully these conditions would add something exciting. As the sun dropped through and then behind the clouds an opening developed allowing golden rays of light to burst majestically through. I thought about the intrepid souls who sail these vessels, and how a scene such as this could bring comfort and serenity to them. -Dan McGeorge
