Artist's Description

Swans Lake
County Kerry, Ireland

The imposing walls of Ross Castle tower above the still waters of Lough Leane in Killarney National Park. Built in the 15th century as a home and refuge for the ODonoghue Clan its impenetrable defenses were only defeated when Oliver Cromwells forces attacked during the Irish Rebellion in the mid 17th century from a warship theyd managed to bring to the lake. Now, centuries later it is a place of beauty, calm, and peace, with the warship replaced by the presence of a graceful swan. -Dan McGeorge
