Artist's Description

Blueberry Sea
Coronado, California

I had walked down to the beach responding to developing color in the cloudy sky. Often a sunset on a cloudy evening produces a variety of colors from orange to blue. Expecting that, I continued to the barnacle covered rocks by waters edge and waited. Instead, a purplish blue glow occurred becoming stronger and stronger as the sun sank in the distance. The layer of clouds was illuminated through an opening just above the ocean. The result was a vibrant lavender color, varied in its painting of the clouds, which reflected with equal unevenness across the water. A slow shutter speed left the distant waves silky smooth, accentuating the movement of the nearby rushing water. A magnificent scene for sure. -Dan McGeorge
