Artist's Description

The Dark Hedges
Ballymoney, North Ireland

Two hundred and sixty years ago an Irish aristocrat planted beech trees along the road leading to his estate. He had them meticulously trimmed back for years as hedges. When he passed on no one else cared and they were left to grow unfettered on their own. Here you see the result. To stand in this place was breathtaking. To walk along the road beneath the trees was humbling. To capture them with my camera and bring the image back home was a dream come true. I'll never forget my day at the Dark Hedges. -Dan McGeorge
