Artist's Description

The Beast
Northeast Wyoming

He was alone on a wide grassy Wyoming plain. At first he ignored me. Then, as I advanced slowly forward in the tall grass, he quickly turned my way. The sudden movement startled me. Loud grunting, snorting, and the thunderous sound of lumbering hooves on the prairie floor rushed towards me. My heart pounded in my chest as I glanced at the charging beast and the two thin strands of barbed wire separating us. To my relief it was enough to make him pull up, and we walked a while together on opposite sides of the fence. Then, returning to the solace of the expansive grassland. he glanced back at me one more time as if to warn me not to follow. It was just the moment I'd hoped for, I tripped the shutter, said "Thanks Bison", and we went our separate ways. - Dan McGeorge
