Artist's Description

High Tide
Coronado, California

Tides come and go, so they say, and occasionally they become dramatic. "It's one of the highest of the year" said the lifeguard I was chatting with on the beach. Soon the sun ducked below the horizon, and set without a hint of excitement. As twilight began to settle however, what had earlier been a a cloudless sky began to fill with a developing marine layer. Perhaps it will all come together after all I thought, while I waited for that sweet moment when light balances to provide the perfect exposure. As an array of clouds formed above the Hotel del, lit by bright lights from below, and waves rushed high onto the beach, I knew the moment had finally arrived. Click! - Dan McGeorge
