A minority Miao girl peers out between elaborate handmade beads which adorn the celebratory headdress she is wearing. Passed down through many generations the heavy wooden headdress is a source of pride in this remote mountain village, and completes the festival dress worn only for special occasions, typically in honor of ancestors.
